About our activities
Here’s the short list of our activities from the project start in spring 2013!
General events:

- 22.04.2013. Trešnjevka Mapping Facebook profile has been open which in autumn 2014 passed 1000 likes and in autumn 2015. reached 1500 likes. In May 2018 it had 2800 likes. In May 2022 there were 5544 likes and on a 10:th anniversary of the profile there are more than 6400 followers.At the end of year 2024 there are 7168 followers and posts are in average seen more than 1000 times. There were 383 posts published during 2024.
- 21.11.2013. Project web page has been opened. In May 2018 it contained 352 articles. In April 2022 there were 490 articles and 5094 photos mainly (more than 95%) taken by the members of the project.
- 06.05.2014. TV show „Kvartura“ on Z1 TV was dedicated to “Trešnjevka Mapping”
- 01.12.2014. Project „Down with curbs!“ has been finished. With help of citizens of Trešnjevka 70 location of curbs that should be lowered were collected. The list of locations is given to the authorities of Trešnjevka North and Trešnjevka South city districts as our help in collecting information for local community action programs.
- 27.01.2015. “Mapiranje Trešnjevke” joined global project Jane’s Walk with its center in Toronto (Canada) which supports free city walks that offer different views on their cities to local citizens.
- In the first year of our participation, 2015., in Zagreb 5 walks were held (Trešnjevka, Medveščak, Centar, Maksimir, Podsused) with 177 participants.
- In 2016. in Zagreb 9 walks were held (Trešnjevka x 2, Podsused, Granešina, Kustošija, Savica, Maksimir, Mikulići, Peščenica ) with 324 participants.
- In 2017. in Zagreb 8 walks were held (Peščenica, Jarun, 2 x Trnje, Maksimir, Zapruđe, Remete, Čučerje) with 254 participants.
- In 2018. in Zagreb 9 walks (Dotrščina, Maksimir, Remete, Dubrava, Dugave, Prečko, Bizek, Botanički vrt, Kozari) with 307 participants were held.
- In 2019. in Zagreb 17 walks (Gornji grad x 2, Trešnjevka x 4, Dubrava, Gračani, Savica Šanci, Vugrovec, Blato, Podsused, Tuškanac, Dugave, Prečko, Šestine, Ferenščica) with 609 participants were held.
- In 2020. because of the Corona pandemy only 4 virtual walks were held, while on 26.09.2020. a day-long manifestation “Jane’s Walk in Zagreb: Tratinska street is waking up!” was held with a string of art, cultural and ebtertainment activities with a goal of improvement of life of today sleepy and neglected Tratinska street.
- In 2021. in Zagreb 13 walks (Vrbani, Sesvete, Borčec, Šestine, Borongajski lugovi, Prečko, Maksimir, Knežija, Botinec, Peščenica, Trnje, Centar x 2) with 411 participants were held.
- In 2022. in Zagreb 15 walks (Bestovje, Planina Gornja, Gračani, Volovčica, Gornji Stenjevec, Maksimir, Čučerje, Kustošija, Čulinec, Zapruđe, Medveščak, Centar x 4) with 725 participants were held (average: 48 participants on a walk).
- In 2023. in Zagreb 10 walks (Knežija, Tuškanac and surrounding, Jakuševec, Borongaj, Mlinovi, Maksimir, Jarun, Sveta Klara, Buzin, Maksimir, Čučerje) with 432 participants were held. Average participations was 43 participants on a walk.
- in 2024. in Zagreb 16 walks with 725 participants were held with average participation of 45 participants on a walk. The following districts were visited: Sesvete x3, Centar, Maksimir, Markuševac and Trnje x 2, Črnomerec, Maksimir, Malešnica/Špansko, Podsused, 16:th meridian)

- 14.01.2016. TV-show “Govornica” on HTV4 channel was dedicated to “Trešnjevka Mapping”
- February 2017. We started cooperation with Zagreb City Museum on preparation of exhibition about Trešnjevka which was opened for public in winter 2017./2018.
- March 2017. First articles about neighboring districts of Trešnjevka were published (for the beginning, about Trnje)
- 24.08.2017. Project representatives participated in seminar “Everybody is walking” (“Vsi hodimo!”) held in Novo Mesto (Slovenia) and organized by Institute for Spatial Policies (IPoP) from Ljubljana with the goal of promoting walking as a means of sustainable transport.
- 29.11.2017. Exhibition “Trešnjevka – space and people” was opened in Zagreb City Museum in whose preparation activists from “Trešnjevka Mapping” were involved..
- 18.-20.05.2018. Seminar with international attendance “Jane’s Walk: A city from walking perspective – examples of good practice” with guest lecturers Maja Simoneti (Ljubljana, Slovenia, organizer and walk leader of Jane’s Walk activities from Ljubljani), Andreas Lindinger (Vienna, Austria, organizer and walk leader of Jane’s Walk activities from Vienna), Florian Lorenz (Vienna, Austria, walk leader of Jane’s Walk and leader of the project “Smarter than car”) and Joshua Grigsby (Vienna, Austria, lecturer on Department on Geography and Regional Research on University of Vienna and one of the leaders of “4Cities” urban studies) with a group of his students from 10 countries.
- 11.-16.06.2018. An artistic action called “Krpice na ulice” (“Rags to the streets”) was performed. In this performance where clothes was hanged on the fences along the main road of Trešnjevka, Zagrebačka avenija it was reminded on the old custom of drying of washed clothes in the backyards of old family houses of the old Trešnjevka, but it was also a reminder on old days of openness and communal living of people from former suburbs in comparison of alienation of the citizens of modern living blocks.
- 05.-16.12.2018. An artistic action called “IspeciPaReci” (“Bake it and tell it”) was performed. 22 fences all around Trešnjevka were ornamented with traditional cake recipes, candles and biscuit forms with which we wanted to remind citizens on traditional spirit of advent weeks: spend time with nice and loveable people, make cakes and enjoy the good atmosphere with them instead of participating in usual end-of-the-year shopping fever.
- 12.10.2019. An artistic action called “Polupani lončići” (“Broken pots”) was performed on 7 locations around Old Trešnjevka. On each location a set of different old metal pots, big and small, was hanged with additional text that was reminding the citizens on that old phrase which was often used to break a game when one player didn’t obey the rules. Beside the nice colourful aspect of the hung pots and their beautiful sound on a windy day or played by children this action was reminding people to act and yell when any of the living rules is broken, by anybody, from the friends to politicians.
- 18.-20.10.2019. An international seminar titled “Jane’s Walk: Play the city game, it’s never the same!” was held. The lecturers were Andreas Lindingera (Wien, Austria, a Jane’s Walk organizer and leader), Janos Klaniczay and Timea Szöke (Budapest, Hungary, organizers of Jane’s Walk activities in Budapest), Višnja Kukoč (organizer of Jane’s Walk activities in Split), Lara Bolković (organizer of Jane’s Walk activities in Pula) and guests, Michaela Crevatin (Trieste, Italy). Tanja Novotni Golubić (Daruvar) and Sanda Kočevar (Karlovac). There were 47 participants from 4 countries on the seminar.
- 06.11.2019. A new action, “Kvartovska piva” (“A bier in a local pub”), is started with a goal of meeting with local people in typical low-profile local pubs where we will try to collect information about history of those places, their owners, clients, streets in their immediate surroundings … The first meeting is held in caffe bar “No. 1” in Kostelska street 29. There were 13 participants.
- 10.02.2020. Bojan Mucko (author) i Miran Krčadinac (camera and editing) prepared a 15-minutes movie about “Trešnjevka mapping” for project called “The Center of shaping of everyday life” ( a collaboration of Croatian designer society, Union of the Croatian visual artists, Museum of arts and crafts, NGO Shadow casters and City of Zagreb). The movie is prepared in a serial called “living archives” and you can see it here.
- 07.03.2020. Saša Martinović Kunović and Vanja Radovanović represented “Mapiranja Trešnjevke” on a first walk in series “Zagreb’s promenadology” in a frame of a new activity of Architect’s society of Zagreb. Beside them their activities presented also Karolina Hrga and Ana Zbiljski (Centar for women studies, Memorial appartment of Marija Jurić Zagorka) and Saša Šimpraga (1percentforthecity).
- 26.09.2020. We organized the manifestation “Jane’s Walk in Zagreb: Tratinska street is waking up!” in order to help to bring back to life this street that was once main shopping street of the district and now is neglected and turned into a long parking lot. We were talking to citizens about the past, present and the future of the street. Before the action we inestigated the history of the buildings, shops, locals in the street. On the day of the action, a diverse program was organized with help of local citizens and shop tenans and NGOs as well.
- winter 2020. We cooperated with architect Vedran Duplančić on a story for a second season of a documentery series “Point on A” where awarded creations of a Croatian architecture are shown. We helped with a story about an addition to a family house in Bistranska 15 made by architect Tomislav Pavelić, where also a general way of life on Trešnjevka is shown. Series was shown on HRT1 TV program during the year 2022.
- autumn 2020. – spring 2021. The action “Trešnjevka se budi!” was prepared. More details about the activities within this action you can read here.
- 08.03.2021. We celebrated International women’s day with a walk and by reading artivles about women
- 22.03.2021. We celebrated The Earth day with the related program items (with Center for civil initiatives (CCI) as guests)
- 23.03.2021. We celebrated The Book Day
- 12.06.2021. There was a day-long program in Tratinska and Ozaljska street where several dozens of artists, NGOs and citizens took place. A detailed report can be found here.
- 15.-26.09.2022. We prepared the action “Trešnjevka is waking up #3!” with which we offered a number of activities in a public space of Old Trešnjevka neighborhood (in Tratinska and Ozaljska streets and their vicinity). Unfortunately, because of the bad weather a stage performances and flee market were held in Cultural center’s hall instead on the Trešnjevački trg square. The most important pieces were exhibition of the works of Trešnjevka-born artist Stanislav Habjan in some of the shop windows of the streets and exhibition of old photos from the Trešnjevka’s past also in more than 40 shop windows in Ozaljska street. - 27.02.2023. The 500:th mail address was written in the list of our followers that are receiving our newsletter.
- 16.06.2023., We organised Štacun – The Original Moment, intervention in public space prepared by Franjka Prša, at the corner of Kostelska and Mokrička streets with about 100 participants
- 17.06.2023. With walk “10 years of Trešnjevka Mapping – following the traces of the first diagonal walk, from one end of Trešnjevka to another” we celebrated 10 years of activities of the project. The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović, there were 55 participants. On this occasion we promoted a booklet prepared for that celebration, you can download it HERE (pdf format).
- 15.-16.09. i 13.-20.10.2023. The action “Trešnjevkais waking up #4!” was organized and a number of activities was held in public spaces of old part of Trešnjevka (on Trešnjevka square and in Tratinska and Ozaljska streets). Among other programs in some of shop windows in Tratinska and Ozaljska streets photos from old family albums of artist from Trešnjevka Gordane Bakić were displayed, there was a flee market on Trešnjevka square, market of photo equipments in Old Trešnjevka park, activist intervention named Park(ing) Day, a performance of a musical project Maali, two walks led by Vanja Radovanović, five public talks called Neighborhood talks … More details about all the activities can be found here.
- 14.12.2023. sudjelovali smo u radionici “Ekosustav grada – stvaram umjetnost u zajednici” pod vodstvom Ivane Popović Nikolić. Radionica je dio projekta Društveni procesi i provodi se u organizaciji Umjetničke organizacije IMAGINE koja organizira Projekt Ilica: Q’ART u suradnji s CeKaTe-om. Radionice su dio Artupunkture, platforme za kulturu i umjetnost – program TZGZ i partnera.
- 10.03.2024. Vanja Radovanović je pripremio i izveo šetnju starim dijelom Trešnjevke za Torstena Michaelsena iz umjetničkog kolektiva Ligna iz Berlina te Anu Kutlešu iz kustoskog kolektiva BLOK
- ožujak 2024. Na poziv izv. prof.dr.sc. Jane Vukić s Odsjeka za sociologiju Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu sudjelovali smo u izradi Prostorne programske studije održivog razvoja RSC Jarun koju je naručio Grad Zagreb.
- 14.09.2024. održana je manifestacija “Trešnjevka se budi #5!” kojom smo još jednom organizirali raznolik program za građanstvo. Program je uključio foto natječaj na temu “Trešnjevka se budi / lica, ljudi”, buvljak pod nazivom Treš market, izložbu umjetnika iz Vojakovačke ulice u Gajevom, radionicu izrade keramike na lončarskom kolu Marine Blažek pod naslovom Keramolabos, igru pod naslovom Ulični kolaž za trešnjevačke sveznalce i neznalce pod vodstvom Vanje Radovanovića, radionicu Pozivnica u trenutak uz voditeljice Ivanu Nekić i Laru Hušnjak, radionicu Yoge uz Tatjanu Smoljić …
- 30.09.2024.: We cooperated with PostCity summer school of the Study of ethnology and human antropology of Faculty of Philosophy of University of Zagreb. Vanja Radovanović led the walk for 30 students from 20 countries and Summer school organizers.

- 22.10.2021. Culture Tour – a visit to “Končar električna vozila”, a train and tram factory. The leader of the visit was Nikola Radman. (52 visitors)
- 05.11.2021. Culture Tour – a visit to the Dom sportova sport hall. The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović, with the host Dubravko Suđ and guests Luka Lucin from the Dražen Petrović Memorial Center and Zoran Čutura, a sport hall user, former basketball player of former basketball Europian champion Cibona. - 29.12.2021. 9:th Christmas diagonal walk: Along the trails between Trešnjevka square and Savski most bridge. The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović. (62 participants)
- 12.03.2022. Kruge, PIle and Savica … and several river streets – a walk along eastern part of Trnje. The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović. (54 participants)
- 22.10.2021. Culture Tour – a visit to the Zagreb fairground. The leaders of the visit were Sanja Jurić, Renato Kisić and Dubravka Kovačević Krizmanić. (38 visitors)
- 19.05.2022. Susedgrad Mapping, a walk along the southwestern side – Dubravica creek, a walk in cooperation with Cultural Center Susedgrad. The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović. (16 participants)

- 28.01.2023.: Culture Tour – a visit to the Institute of the Naval engineering. The leader of the visit was Marta Pedišić Buča (56 visitors)
- 24.02.2023.: Culture Tour – a visit to the Croatian Radiotelevision. The leaders of the visit were Nada Chedid and Ira Karlović (33 participants)
- 13.04.2023.: Culture Tour – a visit to the Plitvice motel. The leaders of the visit were motel’s employees. (96 participants)
- 21.04.2023.: Trešnjevka on a third glance: Sava – I’m coming back, Sava, to You! The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović.. (44 participants)
- 22.04.2023.: Invisible female sport players – female sport on Trešnjevka. The walk leaders were Ivana Perić and Vanja Radovanović, with cooperation of Ene Jurov (murals), Ana Kutleša and Dunja Kučinac. This walk was made in cooperation with custodian team BLOK as a part of the program Art in the Community. (49 participants)
- 17.06.2023., 10 years of Trešnjevka Mapping – following the traces of the first diagonal walk, Trešnjevka, from end to end. The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović.. (55 participants)
- 16.09.2023., Welcome to the concrete hell! The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović. (40 participants). This walk was held as a part of the action “Trešnjevka is waking up #4!”.
- 13.10.2023., Diosappeared creeks of Trešnjevka. The walk leader was Vanja Radovanović. (43 participants). This walk was held as a part of the action “Trešnjevka is waking up #4!”.
- 18.11.2023. Culture Tour, in cooperation with students of Art history study of Faculty of Philosophy (mentor: prof. Jasna Galjer) – first visit to the Building of the Croatian ministries (“Cubicle”). (24 participants)
- 24.11.2023. Culture Tour : Elementary school Horvati (34 visitors)

March-May 2016. Cooperation with volunteers from IX gimnasium in action of mapping of the shops and other business spaces in main streets of Trešnjevka. 16 volunteers were included.
- March-April 2017. In cooperation with volunteers from IX gimnasium and Elementary school Voltino 5 walks for pupils were organized. 3 volunteers and 4 classes in age 7-10 years were included.
- 16.04.2019. A walk along Kustošak creek, from Voltino till Jarun, for pupils of second year of Elementary school Voltino (3 classes) was held.
- autumn 2020. Cooperation with Nikola Pleše, a student of sociology on Faculty of Philosophy Zagreb, on a topic of history of southern part of Trešnjevka for the exam on Urban sociology.
- 15.04.2021. U suradnji s voditeljicom projekta Grad na drugi pogled Tanjom Vujasinović koja ujedno predaje kolegij “Umjetnost u javnom prostoru” na ALU Zagreb, pripremili smo šetnju središtem Trešnjevke za studente koji pohađaju taj kolegij i koji će na osnovu nje pripremiti akciju intervencija u javnom prostoru “Grad na drugi pogled Trešnjevka”. Šetnji je prisustvovalo 9 studenata uz profesoricu Vujasinović, te njenih kolega sa ALU, docenta Igora Rufa, te izvanredne profesorice Vlaste Žanić koji će kao pozvani umjetnici također realizirati radove na projektu.
- autumn 2021. Suradnja sa profesorom geografije Tvrtkom Pleićem na programu predmeta na studiju geografije na Prirodoslovno-matematičkom fakultetu.
- 04.03.2022. održana je šetnja Trešnjevkom za učenike IId razreda IX gimnazije u sklopu predmeta Geografije kroz suradnju sa profesorom Tvrtkom Pleićem
- 08.04.2022. I ove smo godine u suradnji s voditeljicom projekta Grad na drugi pogled Tanjom Vujasinović koja ujedno predaje kolegij “Umjetnost u javnom prostoru” na ALU Zagreb, pripremili šetnju središtem Trešnjevke za studente koji pohađaju taj kolegij i koji će na osnovu nje pripremiti akciju intervencija u javnom prostoru “Grad na drugi pogled Trešnjevka”. Šetnji je prisustvovalo 11 studenata uz profesoricu Vujasinović, te njenog kolegu sa ALU, izvanrednog profesora Alema Korkuta.

The place of the meeting is not known until the morning when the meeting is held when the information is shared via social media and mails.

- travanj 2024. Razgovarali smo sa novinarkom Prvog programa Hrvatskog radija Sunčanom Pražić koja je pripremila prilog o Jane’s Walk šetnjama za emisiju prvog programa Hrvatskog radija “Put pod noge”. Prilog je emitiran 16.05.2024. i može se poslušati ovdje.
- travanj 2024. Razgovarali smo sa Josipom Šiklić – Purgericom koja je za svoju redovnu emisiju subotom prijepodne na Radio Sljemenu pripremila prilog od Jane’s Walk šetnjama. Prilog je emitiran u subotu, 11.05.2024. i može se poslušati ovdje.
